Emotional Literacy
An assembly introducing the topics of stress and anxiety to the students. This assembly takes the form of a light -hearted scene which emphasises how varied and numerous the causes of stress and anxiety can be, and that there is no simple formula for the removal of the effects.
Following the scene there is a short talk in which we introduce;
- Definitions of stress
- The seriousness of the negative impacts of stress.
- A questionnaire for the students to complete.
These questionnaires are to be completed by all participating students.
- What makes them stressed or anxious.
- How they currently deal with stress
- How they see their stress levels changing over the next 12 months
- The support they feel the school offers in mental health recognition and support.
The results of this questionnaire are then collated and used to;
- Get the students to focus upon their stresses and stress relief techniques.
- Help give them ownership of the project, as the practical sessions will be closely linked to the responses.
- Give us the ability to make the practical sessions specific to the concerns of the students.
